About Rhoda

Rhoda Kellogg was a psychologist, scholar and child educator who collected and studied children’s art both as an instructor at and the executive director of the Phoebe A. Hearst Preschool Learning Center from 1945 through 1970, and during her many trips abroad.

Rhoda produced a number of works detailing her theories about children’s art, including Analyzing Children’s Art (1969, Mayfield Publishing Company, Mountain View, California), Psychology of Children’s Art (with Scott O’Dell) (1967), and Children’s Drawings / Children’s Minds (1979, Avon Books, New York, New York). She also published a subset of her collection in microfiche form, consisting of approximately 255 microfiche cards and a printed guide book, which is on deposit in institutions of higher learning across the country.
